Haunted pavement of Ulsan National Institute of Technology during COVID-19 |
A short story, taken from the web source. I have expressed it in my own way.
Once upon a time, Indra ( the God of heaven) got angry with the villagers. So he cursed the villagers and stated that - there will be no rain for another 12 years in their land. Interestingly, he also mentioned that the curse can be removed if Lord Shiva plays his damru.
So all the villagers went to Kailash and tried to convince
Lord Shiva, but he didn’t listen to the villagers, as Lord Shiva was already informed by the Indra. Then all the villagers lost hope and returned to their home. They started facing the harsh situation of starvation.
But there was one in the village named Aarav who was ploughing land, seeing him other people from the
village started laughing. The villagers started mocking him, they say him stupid because
he was working despite of being aware that his efforts will be futile without the
rain.
But Arav didn't pay attention to anyone and continued with his work. After sometime, he paused and said “if I don’t cultivate the land then I may forget to plough and then I may completely forget to cultivate also”. The
villagers laughed at him but Aarav kept working.
However, goddess Parvati,
the wife of Lord Shiva listened to
this whole conversation. She then spoke to Lord Shiva and told him, that he must
play his damru otherwise within a few
days he may also forget to play his damru. Lord Shiva also got convinced and agreed to the point
raised by Parvati. He played the damru, which finally brings the rain and release the villagers from the Indra's curse.
Moral: Nature may be very harsh on us, but persistently practicing our profession may give us new meaning and purpose to live.
PS: This is a fictional story
